Get your number
You bought it — now move it to your own phone or app. This is called a port-in, and it is free at almost every carrier. Below is exactly what to do, in plain English, for the provider you use.
Can I port a number I bought here?
Yes. Every number sold on GoNumbers is meant to be ported to the carrier or app you already use: mobile, prepaid, or business VoIP. Your transfer pack holds the account number, account name, port-out PIN, service address and ZIP. Give it to your new provider and request a port-in; phone carriers usually finish within hours, business services within a few business days.
What “porting” actually means
A phone number isn’t glued to a company. You’re allowed to carry it with you to any carrier — that legal right is called Local Number Portability. Moving it is a port-in.
Right now your new number sits with us, safe and reserved. To start using it, you sign up with the carrier or app you want, tell them “I’m bringing my own number,” and paste in the four-or-five details we already gave you. Their system talks to ours in the background and the number lands on your account — usually within hours for a phone carrier, a few business days for a business/VoIP service. Your phone keeps working the whole time.
You never need us again after that. The number is yours to keep.
The details we gave you — use them exactly
Everything below is in your confirmation email and on your order page. When a carrier asks for “your current account,” they mean the account the number is on now — that’s us.
| What the carrier asks for | What to enter (from your pack) |
|---|---|
| Phone number | the number you bought |
| Account number | Account number |
| Account / holder name | Account name |
| Transfer / port-out PIN (a.k.a. passcode, security PIN) | Port-out PIN |
| Service address | Service address |
| Billing ZIP | Billing ZIP |
Three rules that decide everything
Two things that trip people up:
• Personal Google Voice won’t take this number. It only accepts mobile numbers, and yours is a landline-type number. Use Google Voice for Workspace (business) instead, or the workaround shown in the Google Voice card below.
• Some prepaid carriers (Cricket, Xfinity Mobile) also ask for the last 4 digits of your own SSN — that’s about you, not us, and it’s normal.
